Description

After being forced to return early from summer camp, Dana and Sam are planted in the midst of their recently late grandfather’s Buddhist funeral ceremony. Dana struggles to understand the older generation’s traditions as it is one of the only connections to their Japanese heritage. Meanwhile, Sam must answer her younger sister’s questions regarding religion and the transition from life to death. A VAFF Best Canadian Short Award nominee.

Director's Bio

​Natalie Murao is a filmmaker from Vancouver, British Columbia with a BFA from Simon Fraser University. Although she enjoys dabbling in production design, Natalie’s passion lies in writing and directing films that can engage the Asian Canadian community. Her films draw from personal experiences, especially her childhood, which include themes of memory, the mundane, and magical realism.
