General Volunteer Do’s And (Please) Don’ts:

1. You must be 18 years of age or older to volunteer for Vancouver Asian Film Festival.

2. To volunteer, you must complete and submit our online Volunteer Application Form.

3. Be familiar with your specific volunteer duties, box office procedures, program guides, and other festival details before you start volunteering with us at the festival (all volunteers must attend a training session before the festival, and you can download the VAFF 19 Volunteer One Page document or the full VAFF 19 Volunteer Manual for your own reference).

4. Please follow your assigned schedule, arrive on time, and complete your shifts. Please contact the Volunteer Coordinator as soon as possible if you will be late or find you are unable to make a shift on the day you are scheduled, so that we can make alternate arrangement. If you miss more than two shifts without giving any notice, your volunteer status with VAFF will be revoked.

5. When you arrive for your shift, sign in and receive your volunteer badge from the Volunteer Coordinators or VAFF executives, and then sign out and return your volunteer badge at the end of your shift.

6. Please be courteous and respectful of theatre patrons, festival staff, delegates and other volunteers at all times, as well as Cineplex Odeon International Village theatre staff, as we will be working alongside them throughout the festival.

7. IMPORTANT: Please keep things professional and don’t use your volunteer shift as an opportunity to pitch a screenplay, script or your skills/services to filmmakers or industry delegates while on duty.

8. Please email volunteer@vaff.org if you have any questions.
